The Fl sportsman constituted of both males and females who wanted to support different things promoting an optimum responsibility. What are the goals supported by the SWFSA? First, they promote an organized shooting sports intended not only for the SWFSA members, but also to the entire community of Florida. By supporting organized sports, people are more knowledgeable on the proper and safe use or handling of firearms. And with that, it builds an increase gun safety and marksmanship. Second, aside from promoting an organized shooting sport, SWFSA wanted to instill to all its members and community the proper usage of rifles, pistols, and shotguns in reference to the hunting sport. It is crucial for the fl sportsman organization to build a team that promotes a 100 percent safety when using any forms of firearms.

The association wanted to develop and promote the true meaning of patriotism and sportsmanship. They believe that doing sports is a great fun that should not be taken negatively by any member of the organization. They do not want any member of the SWFSA to feel the word “defeat”; rather they wanted each team and member to regard sports as a “winning battle” and an “achievement”. The Fl sportsman believes that a true sportsmanship and patriotism can be developed by enhancing the positive characteristics of the person, such as good fellowship, honesty, self-reliance, and team play.
